URGENT - Mazie Needs Surgery!
Mazie is a 1 year old Cockapoo who has her whole life ahead of her, if we can get her the surgery she needs - and soon! Mazie has the following birth defects:

• Ectopic Ureter (left)
• Incorrect Ureter Flow (right)
• Urachal Diverticulum (creating chronic bladder infection)

Each of these deformities are causing her health issues, mainly chronic infections. These infections are being controlled with the use of antibiotics, but she cannot live this way forever without consequences. Mazie has already suffered minor kidney damage (right).

CARE can get Mazie the help she needs with your support! Please donate today so this girl can get on with her life. She's a bright and happy star just waiting for her chance to find a forever family!

Urachal Diverticulum:
In embryonic life, urine is removed from the body via the umbilical cord. A structure called the urachus exits the top of the bladder and enters the umbilical cord so that urine can be dumped into the mother's bloodstream for removal by her kidneys. After birth, the urachus degenerates but sometimes a small nipple-like protrusion exists on the top of the bladder. This section can protect a bladder infection. In that case, recheck cultures will reveal the same organism over and over until the urachal diverticulum is surgically removed.
