Breland update 7/6/2010
Breland is doing great! He is still favoring the front leg but he gets round the house and yard on his own and that tail is always wagging =) He is a happy boy. Give him some food and a nice dog bed to lay on and hes content =)
He starts heartworm treatment this weekend. In another 3 months or so we will have his FHO surgery done on his hips. Thank you guys for your donations. CARE Breland update 06/28/2010
Breland is splint free! The vets removed the splint last week due to the fact he was starting to have issues with his wrist and also was developing an ulcer on his pads. He is still favoring that leg right now but his spirits are great and the leg is still healing. Vets anticipate that it will be 4 months total before the leg is completely fused and then they will do his hip surgery.
His left rear hip is completely dislocated and he needs FHO surgery to correct it. We hoping after all of this Breland will be pain free and can be adopted out to his final forever home! Breland needs your help.
Breland is a 7-8 y/o GSD mix neutered male. He was found 5/19/10 inside a locked fence at an abandoned church in Winnsboro, SC. His front leg is shattered & must be amputated. He is too weak to go through surgery right now, so we'll work on him for a week to better prepare him. He's emaciated, Heartworm positive, his skin & coat are horrible & he's in pain. Through it all he's super sweet & appreciative. Everyone who meets him, loves him & we're all rooting for him!
